Which – if any – of these places still exist?
Very few, and none quite recognizable as the same places. The Golden Nugget is still there on Fremont Srteet, for example, with the same sign, but is now grand and upscale, at least in downtown terms. What you don’t get a sense of from these films is how empty The Strip was back then. I was first in Las Vegas nine years after this, and The Strip consisted of a few big casinos with vasts stretched of empty desert between them. There was something very spooky about it.
