Ray Harryhausen basically defined my imagination for the first fourteen years of my life. His movies continued to inspire me for many decades after that.
“The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad” was a seminal work in the life of my imagination. I saw it when I was eight.
I remember Tom Hanks about 10 years ago at the Academy Awards presenting a lifetime achievement award to Ray Harryhausen. He said “Some say Citizen Kane, some say Shawshank Redemption and others say The Godfather…………..but I say Jason & the Argonauts (referring to the best films of all time)” and handed Ray his award. That introduction went something like that………but I kinda agree with his comment. Ray Harryhausen was a genius!
