Preserve the Constitution, break the crony-capitalist grip on Washington — these are the only goals that matter right now.
You can afford to vote for any politician who takes strong positions in support of these goals, even if you disagree with them vehemently on other issues. You cannot afford to vote for any politician who takes weaselly positions on these goals, even if you agree with them enthusiastically on other issues.
Don’t get distracted — keep your eyes on the prize, which for the moment is nothing less than the survival of the American republic.
Presumably intended to be facetious. “Preserve the Constitution, break the crony-capitalist grip on Washington” — vague statements that mean something different to each individual. For example, Lloyd recently posted something about “gun control”; to one person, restricting the ownership and use of firearms is preserving the Constitution, but to another, violating it.
The meaning of the Constitution, especially the Second Amendment, is always going to be debated, but the debates need to be settled by legislative or legal means, not by a President sitting in the Oval Office simply striking out parts of the Constitution he finds inconvenient.
If you think Barack Obama had reasonable cause to seize and search my phone records, I wish you’d tell me what they were. I’m quite sure he couldn’t. And if you think that executing American citizens without trial is compatible with some definition of habeas corpus, what would that definition be?
Lloyd, were your phone records actually seized, or is this meant to be an example of the general snooping the NSA is currently doing with everyone? I’m thinking I missed something here. But I agree about the crony-capitalist control. DEM and REP are both just decoys.
Obama’s NSA seized and searched the phone records of everybody who has a cell phone. It makes a total mockery of the Fourth Amendment.
