LOL. Just yesterday I was thinking the same thing in, uh, slightly different words. There is much to love about this record, but more than anything I’m thrilled by the borrowed lines – for example, in Trying to Get to Heaven – that I recognized must be borrowed lines even before I knew where they were from.
I suppose one could quarrel with the swampy Lanois sound and whatever filter he put on Dylan’s voice, and maybe “Highlands” rambles on a bit too much, but the great songs here are some of the greatest songs ever.
